Software Quality Engineer

Summary

Our client is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to support the modernization of their licensing application. The role will focus on UI and API automation, extending existing framework capabilities, and translating complex insurance business rules into automated test coverage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for UI and APIs.
• Build API automation using Cucumber with Karate and/or REST-Assured.
• Write clean automation code in Java and JavaScript.
• Execute and maintain tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Support integration, regression, and performance testing.
• Analyze results and log defects in Jira.

Requirements

• Experience in QA with a strong test automation focus.
• BDD experience using Cucumber.
• Strong Java (or other JVM language) and JavaScript skills.
• Strong SQL query writing and data validation skills.
• Experience in REST APIs, Web services, and microservices testing.
• Experience in Git, XML, IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Agile team experience.

Preferred

• Experience with Playwright or Selenium.
• Experience with JMeter and/or BlazeMeter.
• Experience with AWS or other Cloud technologies.

This is a remote 6-month Contract-for-Hire opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client.
