What We're Doing

Our Team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Regional team, is constantly engineering, developing and integrating new capabilities for the U.S. Missile Defense System. protecting both the United States and its allies. This large, fast paced team, is composed of many small agile teams working together dynamic environment with a common mission to develop and deploy leading-edge missile defense technologies.

The Work

The C2BMC-Regional Application Agile Release Train is seeking a Software Architect that will thrive in a fast paced team environment in the design, development, and testing of the C2BMC applications. Responsibilities will include defining and overseeing the implementation of the software architecture for a Java-based missile defense command and control planner system and ensuring the architecture is consistent with the architecture design tenets on the C2BMC program. This includes providing direct technical support to the Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Planner Client team and coordinating across engineering disciplines (e.g. Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integration & Test, Operations & Sustainment). Examples of tasking to be performed include:

• Perform trade studies and analysis for current and future C2BMC development activities.
• Maintain the software architecture artifacts for the Planner team.
• Oversee the development and implementation of the Planner software design.
• Determine ramifications and impacts of proposed architectural changes to the software baselines.
• Analyze system performance to include quantifying performance, identifying bottlenecks, and measuring throughput.
• Support briefings, presentations and demonstrations to the customer. Support analysis, design, and implementation of cyber requirements in the software.
• Work with other program architects to implement enterprise architecture with intent and guidance.
• Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to:
• Installation and configuration of Linux and Windows HW platforms from the OS up to the C2BMC developed applications.
• Coordinate execution of SW integration tests across multiple environments to verify system operation.
• Work with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software integration. Submit problem reports for errors found.

Develops and publishes corporate business automation plans using cost-effective delivery technologies in support of major corporate strategies. Performs complex software design activities integrating multiple technologies. Provides architectural guidelines for all software design activities to current and future technological environments. Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of technologies, planning, design, and analysis methodologies. Responsible for the design and architectural guidelines for current and future software technological activities.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The candidate must have software engineering and architecture experience in large software systems.
• Experience with the Java programming language and developing software throughout the full software lifecycle.
• Understand modern software architecture paradigms such as event-driven architecture or service-oriented architecture.
• Effective communicator that can bridge engineering disciplines, customer and program leadership, and individual contributors to produce solutions.

Desired Skills

• Experience developing software architecture and design for large-scale distributed software systems that allow for scalability, extensibility, maintainability, reliability, etc.
• Creative problem solver to find solutions within technical and programmatic constraints.
• Hands on experience with DoD integration processes, Agile and DevOps methodologies and automated test tools.
• Experience with Helm, Ingress, and other container orchestration tools a plus.
• Good communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with software developers, system administrators, and analysis and test engineers.
• Experience integrating complex applications on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms.
• Experience with VMWare systems administration and installation.
• Experience with containers and container or orchestration technologies.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
