o Providing coaching and mentorship
o Supporting career growth and goal setting
o Delivering performance evaluations
- Contribute hands-on to development efforts across the stack as needed
- Review team code and designs, providing actionable feedback to maintain high engineering standards
- Ensure strong software quality through unit testing, code reviews, and alignment with established guidelines
- Collaborate across fields (software, test, systems, and product teams) to deliver coordinated solutions
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes, automated deployment workflows, and team efficiency
This will initially be an on-site role based in Carlsbad, CA; the role could evolve into a hybrid role (Onsite 3 days per week)
What you'll need
- Proven experience leading or mentoring software engineers in an agile development
environment
- Strong experience with agile-scrum methodologies
- A minimum of 5 years of software development experience
- Proficiency with at least one of:
o Python (backend/middle-layer development)
o C/C++ (low-level or performance-sensitive networking components)
o React with TypeScript (frontend applications)
- Experience building APIs using REST and/or gRPC
- Familiarity with development and collaboration tools:
o Jira for task tracking
o GitHub for source control
o CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
o Code quality platforms (SonarQube or similar)
- Experience developing on or for Linux systems (Debian preferred)
- Strong understanding of software quality practices, including unit testing and code
reviews
- Ability to balance technical leadership with people management responsibilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to align team efforts with broader organizational goals
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience
