Software Test Engineer 
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Software Test Engineer II to support the development, validation, and cybersecurity compliance of software systems in a complex engineering and manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to establish software testing processes, develop automated testing solutions, and ensure software products meet quality, performance, and cybersecurity requirements.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with software test planning, test automation, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing environments, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party partners to develop, implement, and maintain Software Test Plans and Procedures (STAPP).
  • Lead and coordinate software testing activities across multiple projects and engineering disciplines.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain software test scripts and automated testing solutions.
  • Establish and support System Integration Lab (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments.
  • Ensure software validation activities align with cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Support software quality assurance efforts by identifying, documenting, and resolving defects.
  • Implement and maintain processes aligned with CMMI and CMMC requirements.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Information Systems, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and external development partners to support successful project execution.
  • Provide project updates, testing results, and technical recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on software quality, testing efficiency, and compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing, software quality assurance, or software validation.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external software development and test organizations.
  • Experience developing and executing software test plans, test procedures, and test scripts.
  • Experience supporting HIL and SIL testing environments.
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance methodologies and testing best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating and managing Software Test Plans and Procedures (STAPP).
  • Experience with Vector testing tools, including CANalyzer and CANoe.
  • Experience with software test automation development.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity testing practices and secure software development principles.
  • Experience using HP Fortify or similar static code analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with CMMI and CMMC compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with PLM applications such as IBM Jazz and requirements management tools such as Cameo.
  • Experience supporting regulated, government, defense, automotive, or other highly controlled engineering environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly read and analyze computer screens, technical documents, reports, and engineering data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, focus on detailed visual information, and maintain attention to detail for extended periods.
Work Environment
  • This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Work may be performed in areas with varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, and active production operations.
  • Requires strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to follow established processes and procedures.
  • Must be capable of maintaining focus and accuracy while supporting multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires a methodical and detail-oriented approach to testing, validation, and quality assurance activities.
