Position: Software Tester (Quality Assurance)
OverviewITC Defense is seeking a Software Tester (Quality Assurance) to support the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS). This position is part of an Agile software development team responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality software solutions that support Navy logistics and business operations. The Software Tester will
contribute to the quality assurance process throughout the software development lifecycle, helping ensure software releases meet customer expectations and mission requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform manual and automated testing of Navy Community applications, including WebRoR, EFTS, SCIP, and other assigned systems.
- Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on documented software requirements and user stories.
- Design and maintain automated test scripts using Katalon Studio and other approved testing tools.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, user interface, browser compatibility, data segregation, and requirements validation testing.
- Conduct application security testing, including validation against common web application vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS).
- Document defects, testing activities, and test results using Azure DevOps or other approved tracking systems.
- Verify software corrections through regression testing prior to production deployment.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and Government stakeholders to identify, document, and resolve software defects.
- Communicate testing status, risks, and issues that may impact software releases.
- Prepare and maintain testing documentation, including test plans, defect reports, and test execution results.
- Support continuous improvement of software testing processes and automation capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Additional directly related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional experience performing software quality assurance or software testing.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe after hire.
- Experience developing and executing software test plans and test cases from documented requirements or user stories.
- Experience using automated testing tools, including Katalon Studio.
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar defect and requirements management tools.
- Working knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Understanding of common web application security vulnerabilities, including SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative Agile development environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), or Federal Government software development programs.
- Experience testing enterprise web-based applications supporting logistics, supply chain, or business operations.
- Experience developing or enhancing automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience performing API, database, or performance testing.
- Experience working with SQL databases and validating data integrity.
- Familiarity with Git or other software configuration management tools.
- Industry certifications related to software testing, quality assurance, or cybersecurity.
