Position Summary:
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, drying, folding, and maintaining linens while carefully inspecting sheets, blankets, and other materials for stains, damage, or wear. This role plays a key part in quality control by identifying stains early, applying proper treatment methods, and ensuring all linens meet cleanliness and presentation standards before being returned to service.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort incoming linens by type, color, and soil level
Inspect sheets, blankets, towels, and other fabrics for stains, discoloration, or damage
Identify common stains (e.g., oils, makeup, bodily fluids, chemicals) and apply appropriate pre-treatment solutions
Rewash or retreat items as needed to meet cleanliness standards
Remove and report linens that are damaged, heavily stained, or no longer serviceable
Operate commercial washers, dryers, and pressing or folding equipment safely and efficiently
Fold, stack, and organize clean linens for distribution or storage
Maintain accurate counts of processed items and notify supervisor of shortages
Follow infection-control, safety, and chemical-handling procedures
Keep laundry area clean, organized, and compliant with workplace standards
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Previous laundry, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred (but not required)
Ability to recognize different types of stains and fabric care needs (training provided)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices
Good organizational and time-management skills
Reliable attendance and teamwork mindset
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent lifting of linen bags or loads (up to 25-40 lbs.)
Repetitive bending, reaching, and folding motions
Comfortable working in a warm, humid environment
Work Environment:
Commercial or on-site laundry facility
Exposure to detergents, stain-treatment chemicals, and heat from equipment
Requires adherence to safety and hygiene protocols at all times
