POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

We are looking for a Solar Design Support Specialist to join our Qcells New Homes Team to manage the increasing volume of new construction residential solar projects and ensure timely requests and reviews of design documents. The ideal candidate will have experience in generating designs for solar energy systems using specialized software and engineering principles. This role requires a combination of electrical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and proficiency with design software to ensure projects are technically viable and profitable. They will work closely with QNH design team, project managers, field managers, and interconnections. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage accurate project documentation and file management.
  • Review architectural and builder files for solar design and system compatibility.
  • Perform system simulations and energy yield calculations.
  • Manage the creation and quality control community and lot designs ensuring compliance with national and local codes as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • Process and facilitate revisions and as-built documents as needed.
  • Track designer quality and cycle times.
  • Support shade analysis documentation and energy compliance.
  • Provide technical sales support to the business development team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5+ years of professional work experience including 3+ years of work experience in solar design or renewable energy.
  • Strong understanding of solar energy principles and technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles, civil, architectural, and structural design elements.
  • Strong understanding of PV and Battery systems, electrical components, power system protection and PV Production analysis.
  • Associates / bachelor's degree in architectural, engineering or related field.
  • Travel may be required up to 10%, depending on business needs. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification or other relevant industry certification 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field.
  • Expertise with design software like AutoCAD, Aurora, Bluebeam, SAM, PVSyst and other modeling tools.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
