Position Overview
A Western NY Company is seeking a highly skilled Solar Electrical Estimator & Procurement Lead to own material takeoffs, purchasing, and cost accuracy across commercial solar projects.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role. The right candidate can review electrical plan sets, build complete material lists without direction, and ensure projects are fully prepared for execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Build complete and accurate material takeoffs directly from plan sets and system designs
- Own purchasing, vendor relationships, and material pricing
- Manage supply chain planning, lead times, and project readiness
- Review designs for constructability and provide input on materials and equipment
- Support estimating with accurate, real-world pricing
- Evaluate and price change orders based on material and scope impacts
Qualifications
- Strong electrical background (commercial/industrial preferred)
- Experience with solar PV systems and balance of system components
- Ability to read and interpret plan sets, single lines, and construction drawings
- Proven experience building material takeoffs without predefined BOMs
- Experience with procurement, estimating, or project-based purchasing
- High level of ownership, accuracy, and attention to detail
