PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, Florida for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports high-mix, low-volume production of critical electronic assemblies in a manufacturing environment. The role requires advanced soldering, rework, inspection, and documentation skills with a strong focus on quality, precision, and adherence to engineering requirements.
Required Skills
- Extensive direct experience as a solder assembler
- Strong experience with both surface-mount and through-hole soldering
- Experience reworking and repairing components including QFNs, BGAs, and LGAs
- Experience using advanced rework equipment such as hot-air pencils, hot plates, reflow ovens, and specialty rework stations
- Ability to conduct X-ray inspection of reworked bottom-terminated components and evaluate solder joint integrity
- Ability to perform board-level verification using visual inspection, AOI, and X-ray methods
- Ability to perform functional testing to ensure conformance to specifications
- Ability to interpret and follow engineering change orders and bills of materials
- Ability to work to build-to-print requirements
- Ability to maintain cleanroom and ESD-controlled work areas
- Ability to monitor and record equipment parameters such as temperature and airflow
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to pass a required medical exam
What You’ll Do
- Perform high-mix SMT and through-hole soldering on printed circuit boards in accordance with work orders, engineering drawings, and IPC standards
- Remove, replace, and rework components including bottom-terminated devices using advanced rework equipment
- Conduct X-ray inspection of reworked parts and document inspection results
- Execute visual, AOI, X-ray, and functional verification activities
- Interpret engineering change orders and BOMs and apply build-to-print practices
- Maintain cleanroom and ESD-controlled work areas
- Record equipment settings and process parameters
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and support training of junior assemblers

- Monday through Thursday, 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM EST
