PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, FL for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role is highly hands-on and focused on precision soldering, rework, and inspection of complex circuit boards in a controlled manufacturing environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with SMT and through-hole soldering
  • Experience removing, repairing, and replacing components (including QFNs, BGAs, LGAs)
  • Experience using rework equipment (hot air, hot plates, etc.)
  • Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and BOMs
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot solder defects and perform rework

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with X-ray inspection for hidden solder joints
  • Experience with AOI or other inspection methods
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ESD-controlled environments

What You’ll Do

  • Perform SMT and through-hole soldering on complex PCBs
  • Remove, replace, and repair components including bottom-terminated parts
  • Execute precise thermal profiles for reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles
  • Inspect solder joints using visual, AOI, and X-ray methods
  • Troubleshoot defects such as solder bridges, voids, and misalignment
  • Interpret engineering drawings and ensure correct component placement
  • Document inspection and rework results per quality requirements
  • Maintain ESD and safety compliance standards
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing processes

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Fully onsite in Oldsmar, FL
