Position Title: Soldering Technician (Through-Hole)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Soldering Technician is responsible for assembling and soldering electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) using surface mount (SMT) and through-hole techniques. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform hand soldering of electronic components using SMT and through-hole methods
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Inspect solder joints to ensure quality and compliance with established standards
- Repair and rework defective assemblies as required
- Operate soldering equipment, including soldering irons, hot air tools, and desoldering equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation in accordance with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols
- Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or process issues
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines
- Meet production schedules and quality requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic soldering experience (SMT and/or through-hole preferred)
- Ability to use hand tools and small electronic assembly equipment
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings and instructions
- High attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC soldering certification (e.g., IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001)
- Prior experience in electronics manufacturing or assembly
- Familiarity with ESD safety practices
