Soldering Operator

OneSource Staffing – Quakertown is currently seeking a 1st Shift Soldering Operator (6am-2:30pm) with strong attention to detail and hand-soldering skills for a manufacturing position with one of our valued clients.

Position Overview

The Soldering Operator will assemble, solder, inspect, and complete electronic and mechanical components used in flowmeters and related products. This position requires precision hand soldering, attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision hand soldering and rework on surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components
• Prepare components, circuit boards, wires, and terminals for soldering
• Assemble electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies
• Inspect solder joints and completed assemblies for quality and workmanship
• Identify soldering defects and perform rework as needed
• Use soldering irons, hot-air/rework equipment, microscopes, magnification devices, and hand tools
• Follow drawings, bills of material, routing sheets, visual aids, and written work instructions
• Complete production records, quality documentation, and traceability paperwork accurately
• Follow ESD, safety, quality, and product-handling procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation
• Communicate defects, material discrepancies, and production concerns to supervisors or team members
• Work as part of a production team while maintaining reliable attendance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• At least 1 year of electronic assembly, hand soldering, or related manufacturing experience preferred
• Experience with both surface-mount and through-hole soldering preferred
• Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to perform precise, repetitive work
• Ability to work with microscopes or magnification equipment for extended periods
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, drawings, and assembly documentation
• Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills

IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 training or certification is preferred. Equivalent demonstrated soldering knowledge and skills may also be considered.

Soldering Skills Assessment

Successful completion of a practical soldering test is required to qualify for this position.

The assessment may include component identification and placement, SMT and/or through-hole soldering, use of tools and magnification, ESD and safety practices, workmanship, defect recognition, and rework techniques.

Physical Requirements

This position may require sitting and/or standing for extended periods, reaching, walking, repetitive hand and finger movements, and lifting/carrying up to approximately 15 pounds. The position also requires the ability to visually inspect small components and solder joints.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a production environment and may involve soldering equipment, heated tools, flux or cleaning materials, and electronic components. Employees must follow applicable safety, ventilation, PPE, ESD, and chemical-handling procedures.
