Job Title: Soldering Technician IJob Description

The Soldering Technician I performs basic soldering, assembly, inspection, and rework of electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) while following established quality and safety standards. You will use hand soldering techniques, prepare and install components, interpret work instructions and drawings, and operate soldering equipment after training. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork. Basic soldering or electronics assembly experience is acceptable, though at least 1 year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic hand soldering of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Assemble electronic components and subassemblies using soldering, wiring, and mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Prepare components for installation, including identification, placement, and orientation according to work instructions and drawings.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, drawings, and schematics to complete assigned tasks accurately.
  • Inspect solder joints, assemblies, and finished work for defects, ensuring all products meet quality and workmanship standards.
  • Perform basic rework of electronic assemblies, including removal and replacement of components as required.
  • Operate soldering and related production equipment safely after receiving proper training.
  • Use hand tools and basic production equipment to support electronic and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and on time, including recording work performed and tracking components as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all housekeeping and safety guidelines.
  • Follow all established safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures where applicable.
  • Collaborate with team members, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to a positive, quality-focused work environment.
Essential Skills
  • Basic experience with hand soldering of electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs), with 1+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform electronic assembly, including component installation, wiring, and mechanical assembly.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting work instructions, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with surface mount technology (SMT) and pick-and-place concepts.
  • Experience with general production and machine operating in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for electronic and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Rework experience, including the ability to remove and replace electronic components.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles as they relate to assembly work.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect work for defects and quality issues.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Commitment to safety, including adherence to PPE requirements and safety procedures.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience reading and understanding electronic schematics.
  • Prior experience in a production or manufacturing environment involving electronics or mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with SMT processes and equipment such as pick-and-place systems.
  • Comfort working with wiring, mechanical components, and basic electrical assemblies.
  • Interest in developing new technical skills and advancing through structured leveling or training programs.
  • Motivation to grow into higher-level technician roles by learning advanced soldering and assembly techniques.

Work Environment

The work environment emphasizes safety and adherence to established safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, safety locks, and the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Team members may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, respirator masks, and coveralls as part of daily operations. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. While performing job duties, you may be frequently exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and elevated noise levels that can exceed permissible exposure limits, making hearing protection necessary at times. There may also be potential exposure during response to chemical incidents, bodily injury incidents, and other emergency situations. The environment supports a hands-on, production-focused workflow, and is also dog-friendly.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
