Solid Waste Attendant (Drop Center) Salary $18.47 Hourly

Description: The purpose of this position is to assist the public with disposal of solid waste materials, coordinate material removal with contracted waste company, and maintains a clean working environment for staff and visitors. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. Examples of Duties:
• Opens and closes the convenience site, removes litter, answers phone, fills containers that need emptying and prepare daily reports on site activity. • Checks entering vehicles for solid waste decals and assists customers with the disposal and recycling of their solid waste. • Maintains cleanliness of the site. • Notifies supervisor of activities, violations and hazard. • Assists citizens as needed. • Performs related work as assigned.
Typical Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.
Supplemental Information: All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
