Salary Range: $83,000 - $105,000

More About the Role:
This Solid Waste Manager position requires a Commercial Driver''s License (either class A or B). The incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the Collection Operations group of Solid Waste. This supervisory position will manage our Solid Waste Fleet Collections Team and support operations and oversight of several recycling centers, as well as assist with collection activities of front-loader, roll-off and tractor trailer operations. Extensive knowledge & skills related to commercial solid waste vehicle operations, site safety and OSHA experience are desired. Responsible for monitoring work activities across several different locations and compiling detailed reports, monitoring outcomes of activities, training staff and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Strong writing skills, daily use of computers to track information and write emails. Training skills to coach staff are desired. Familiarity with GPS monitoring equipment is desired. This position may report to different Solid Waste Centers during the week and significant travel using a county vehicle will occur. Performs responsible skilled trade and supervisory work assisting in directing the activities of a group of Solid Waste Technicians. This position is responsible for assigning and monitoring daily work, performing operation of equipment when necessary, and ensuring that permit compliance is maintained and safety procedures are followed at a variety of Solid Waste Facilities. Non-traditional work hours will be required, which will include some holidays and weekends.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for coordinating solid waste activities and may conduct inspections in specialty areas; assists in the development and
implementation of policies, procedures and systems; and coordinates with outside agencies or departments.
Essential Functions
Manage the day-to-day operations of the solid waste facility, and provide daily support to director
in ensuring quality and budget performance
Monitor budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures,
and performance
Execute the strategic capital budget, ensuring effective use of the budget through asset
allocation; ensures appropriate spare ratios and asset disposal
Execute necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and
other standards and regulations
Ensure thorough root-cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following-up with
consistent discipline and retraining
Oversee employee hiring and performance management including selecting, coaching,
disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance; provides input into
termination, compensation, and promotion decisions
Interact with other agencies to ensure customer satisfaction and improve efficiency
Ensure compliance with company procedures for all equipment and maintenance
Develop and conduct public information & education programs
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of six years of experience including two years supervisor experience or completion of an
approved supervisor training program.
Education:
Bachelor''s degree in related field

Licenses and Certifications
Certification in Solid Waste Specialty Area of either; Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) or
Compost Certification, Transfer Station Certification, Integrated Manager, or other equivalent solid
waste certification.
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver''s License and may require a Commercial
Driver''s License (CDL) based upon job specific requirements.
