Work Location: On-Site

Job Type: Direct Hire

Industry: Manufacturing / Mobile Electrification Systems

Company Size: ~900+ employees

Keys to Job: Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology (or equivalent) + 3–7 years design experience. Must be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, dimensioning, tolerancing (GD&T), and inspection practices required. Mechanical and/or electrical system design experience preferred. Ideal for a detail-oriented designer who enjoys creating drawings, processing ECOs, supporting manufacturing, and solving engineering challenges

We are seeking a SolidWorks Design Engineer to support our Product Platforms and Project Engineering team. In this role, you will create and revise electro-mechanical designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, develop detailed drawings, process engineering change orders, and provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams. The role is responsible for the content and accuracy of drawing deliverables from the Engineering department and involves developing practical design solutions while collaborating across functions.

What You'll Do:

  • Create and update electro-mechanical designs and drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD / DraftSight.
  • Process engineering change orders (ECOs), completing design and drafting work to create and revise parts and drawings while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Determine part and assembly tolerances in accordance with established standards and identify inspection dimensions for key characteristics and quality assurance/control.
  • Produce final drawings, verifying dimensions, materials, relationships between parts, and overall project structure.
  • Develop design proposals to meet new application and customer/sales requests, soliciting input as needed from Application Engineering and other supporting roles.
  • Utilize knowledge of machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete accurate drawings.
  • Suggest appropriate manufacturing and assembly methods for product designs, coordinating with Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering as required.
  • Review and interpret test requests and reports to support ECO processing.
  • Provide engineering support to the manufacturing shop floor, correct errors or omissions promptly, and identify opportunities to reduce recurring issues.
  • Perform on-site inspections, support quoting activities, and assist with troubleshooting design-related challenges.
  • Interpret regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned while upholding quality, EHS, and core organizational standards. This role has no supervisory responsibilities but is expected to provide guidance to junior Designer I team members.

What We're Looking For:

  • Associate degree (A.S.) in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field, plus three to seven years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 or newer and SolidWorks is required.
  • Solid understanding of common manufacturing techniques, dimensioning, inspection practices, and tolerancing.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical system design is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to solve engineering challenges and collaborate effectively across teams.

If you are a detail-oriented designer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and working closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering colleagues, we encourage you to apply.
