SolidWorks Drafter

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a SolidWorks Drafter for our client, a structural and marine fabrication contractor, in [City, State]. Pay & Schedule

Pay: $35.65/hr

Shift: Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Produce SolidWorks models and drawings including weldments, sheet metal, multi-body parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings

• Translate field measurements, survey data, and scan data into constructible CAD models and layouts

• Set up projects and gather field and design information to support production priorities

• Generate Excel-based material take-offs and purchasing lists

• Organize files, drawings, and documentation for upcoming and active projects

• Generate work orders and reports for production

• Coordinate directly with foremen, operators, production leads, and survey staff on the manufacturing floor

• Assist with planning, coordination, and miscellaneous technical tasks as needed

• Support non-design tasks during slower periods to assist the department as a whole

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of SolidWorks experience — required

• Proficiency in SolidWorks weldments, sheet metal, multi-body parts, assemblies, and drawings

• Strong understanding of drafting principles and structural/steel fabrication

• Ability to work with incomplete or evolving information and make sound real-time decisions

• Excellent print reading and problem-solving skills

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

• Effective communicator across designers, supervisors, survey staff, and multiple trades

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• US Citizenship required

• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Rhino

• Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM, ProNest, point cloud data, or 3D scanner technology

• Background in structural, pipe, or sheet metal design within a production or construction environment

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position. Work is primarily performed in an office or drafting environment, with regular visits to active production and fabrication areas that may be noisy, hot, dirty, and visually obstructed. Required PPE must be worn at all times when in production areas. Situational awareness and commitment to personal safety are essential.
