Solution Architect / Technical Lead

Location: Remote (U.S.) with periodic onsite meetings in New York City, NY as required

Pay Rate: $120.75 - $124.20 per hour

 

Position Overview

The Solution Architect / Technical Lead serves as the senior technical authority responsible for the architecture, design, integration, security, and successful implementation of enterprise software modernization initiatives supporting government operations. This role provides leadership throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including discovery, requirements analysis, solution design, development oversight, testing, deployment, and knowledge transfer.

 

The Solution Architect will work directly with executive stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, development teams, and government personnel to transform business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise solutions.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise architecture and technical strategy for application modernization initiatives.
  • Design secure, scalable, and maintainable software architectures.
  • Define system integration approaches for internal and external applications.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and requirements workshops.
  • Develop technical architecture diagrams, design documents, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Establish development standards, coding practices, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Provide technical oversight to development, integration, database, and infrastructure teams.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables, software releases, and deployment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, accessibility, and government standards.
  • Support project governance, risk management, and technical decision-making.
  • Coordinate application integration efforts involving APIs, data exchanges, workflow systems, and enterprise databases.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing, deployment readiness reviews, and production cutover activities.
  • Provide technical mentoring and leadership to project staff.

 

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in enterprise software architecture and systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale application modernization projects.
  • Experience designing secure enterprise architectures in government or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of application integration, API design, cloud technologies, and enterprise databases.
  • Experience with Agile and traditional project delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and executive-level briefings.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal, state, or local government agencies.
  • Experience with enterprise workflow automation platforms.
  • Experience integrating multiple business systems through APIs and data exchange frameworks.
  • Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity controls and government security requirements.
  • Experience supporting fixed-price government contracts.
