POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Grid & Energy Services team and bring strong experience designing large-scale distributed systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in architecture and ensure high quality code. Ideally 8+ years working heavily with Python and Azure. You will work closely with tam across our new Grid & Energy Services division.

LOCATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT

This role is remote, however, the candidate(s) will be expected to relocate at their own expense to our onsite Houston location by Q1 in 2027*

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design end-to-end technical solutions for grid and energy platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and customer stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical architecture.
  • Define system architecture across cloud services, APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems.
  • Guide implementation teams on best practices for cloud-native design, security, and integration patterns.
  • Support customer engagements, including technical discussions, solution design, and deployment planning.
  • Ensure alignment with reliability, observability, and performance standards in collaboration with SRE and QA teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture standards, documentation, and reusable design patterns.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in solutions architecture, software engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Strong experience designing with Python & deploying cloud-based systems (Azure).
  • Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with experience working cross-functionally and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD and cloud-native design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in energy systems, utilities, or infrastructure-related platforms. 
  • Experience with customer-facing architecture or pre-sales engineering. 
  • Knowledge of observability, reliability, and SRE best practices. 
  • Exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems or data-driven platforms. 
  • Travel up to 10% or business needs.
