Job Summary:

The role involves conducting diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound technology to assess tissues and body structures, delivering high-quality images for analysis. Candidates must be registered sonographers with at least two relevant registries for the departments they serve, such as ABD/OB, ABD/MSK, ABD/BR, or OB/FE.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the second registry in the primary or secondary department at least 30% of the time.
  • Set up and calibrate all equipment, manually adjusting transducers for examinations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and execute quality control measures.
  • Conduct both routine and advanced studies while assisting in various imaging procedures.
  • Identify significant structures, artifacts, pathologies, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment when necessary.
  • Submit all high-quality images and documentation to PACS promptly, ensuring proper labeling and patient data accuracy.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
  • Comply with all regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education:

Completion of a Sonography program is required.

Experience:

No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Ability to distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or machinery malfunctions through hearing.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry on a keyboard.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional vision use to identify and differentiate colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
  • Rarely kneeling or sitting.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:
  • State of Work Location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Additional combinations of RDMS specialties as outlined in the original description.
