Sonographer I - Noninvasive Cardiology - Weekend Summa Health - Akron City Campus

Work 2 12-Hour Shifts (Saturday & Sunday - 7-7:30p) Paid for 32 Hours Multiple Campus Coverage $5,000 Hire On Incentive

Summary: A specialized cardiac sonographer who independently performs echocardiograms on a professional level, including but not limited to:

  • Transesophageal (TTE) echo
  • Transthoracic (TTE) echo
  • Stress echo
  • 3D
  • Doppler color Doppler
  • Strain imaging echocardiograms in in-patient (IP), outpatient (OP), and off-site settings. The results of these exams are used to directly impact the course of patient care.

Formal Education Required:

  1. Completion of a Sonography program from an accredited school of ultrasound technology. OR
  2. One (1) year of full-time cardiac echocardiography experience. OR Completion of an approved Echo Trainee Program. OR Summa Sonographer Intern requirements

Experience & Training Required:

  1. Registered in the field of experience (RVS, RVT, RDMS, RCS, and RDCS).
  2. Basic Life Support.
  3. Completion of an approved Echo sonography program.
  4. For a weekend position, three (3) years of experience with stress testing experience.

Other Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  1. Ability to make knowledgeable independent clinical assessments and judgments.
  2. Ability to quickly assess and resolve scanning, technical, and patient care issues, interacting in a professional manner with limited supervision.
  3. Ability to assume a collaborative relationship and communicate with physicians and other allied health care professionals.
  4. Ability to communicate and interact with respect towards other personnel, physicians, patients, family members, customers, and visitors, understanding their needs in a professional, caring, and effectively manner with self-respect and dignity.
  5. Provides high-level professional quality echocardiogram examination in this modality on a routine basis.
  6. Ability to calibrate and operate equipment.
  7. Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment.
  8. Ability to independently prioritize work and effectively resolve problems.
  9. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  10. Ability to work as a team member.
  11. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

Level of Physical Demands:

  1. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
