Job Description:
The Adult Echocardiography Sonographer will prepare patients for examination while focusing on patient comfort and satisfaction. The Adult Echocardiography Sonographer will explain procedures in easy-to-understand terms, perform ultrasound procedures, and monitor patients throughout the examination process.
Job Responsibilities
The Adult Echocardiography Sonographer will:
- Prepare patients for examinations and help relieve pre-testing anxiety.
- Perform high-quality Adult Echocardiography studies according to ASE and IAC guidelines.
- Set up equipment and administer procedures in a timely manner.
- Carefully review prior reports, images, and patient charts.
- Ensure proper images are obtained and studies are complete and thorough.
- Utilize appropriate imaging techniques and notify the reader when studies are ready for review.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of examinations performed.
- Maintain inventory and coordinate purchases of supplies for the assigned area.
- Recognize abnormalities and respond quickly to critical findings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- The Adult Echocardiography Sonographer must have several years of dedicated inpatient echocardiography experience in a hospital setting.
- A minimum of 200 inpatient echocardiography cases must be documented through institutional referral.
- The Adult Echocardiography Sonographer must demonstrate proficiency in valvular assessment, including strong spectral Doppler and Pedoff skills.
- Experience with contrast echocardiography and agitated saline studies is required.
- Ability to work independently, recognize abnormalities, and respond quickly to critical findings.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer through ARDMS or CCI.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- TEE and Stress Echo experience.
- Familiarity with 3D echocardiography.
- Experience with TAVR, Mitral Clip, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, VAD, and closure device protocols.
- Experience maintaining ICAEL-accredited echocardiography lab standards.
- Experience using Philips iE33 and EPIQ systems.
- Familiarity with the Epic hospital information system.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES Cardiovascular Technology Program preferred.
- Several years of hospital experience performing advanced cardiac studies such as pre-
- TAVR TTEs and TEEs.
