Serving the community since 1922, Yoakum Community Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that blends state-of-the-art technology with compassionate, "small-town" care rooted in our R.I.S.E. core values. We are seeking full-time and PRN Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologists to produce high-quality multi-dimensional recordings for vascular and general studies. In this role, you will work independently to ensure patient safety and clinical excellence across multiple departments, including the Emergency Department, Surgery, and bedside portables.
Special Scheduling: Must be available for shifts outside scheduled shifts, including but not limited to nights/weekends/ holidays. Position may require a rotating call schedule.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform all general and vascular ultrasound studies to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and organ malfunction.
- Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment controls based on organ depth and field specifications; creatively obtain images while adhering to departmental standards.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety; assist with positioning and immobilization; and maintain constant communication to ensure safety and comfort.
- Manage the full imaging lifecycle—from verifying orders in the RIS and selecting exams from the worklist to labeling, measuring, and delivering images to PACS via DICOM send.
- Function independently in high-stress environments (ER/OR) and consult with attending physicians or supervisors regarding test results.
- Maintain a "team-first" attitude and uphold the hospital's R.I.S.E. values in all interactions with patients and staff.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent in Ultrasound Technology.
- Must be registered with ARDMS, ARRT(S), or equivalent.
- Must be a registered RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Must be current in CPR certification.
