Job Description

General Description: 

In the role of a Sonography Instructor, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong understanding of and commitment to program goals. In this role, you will actively engage in the preparation, lecture, and evaluation of students, staying current with professional developments in the field. You will need to maintain effective collaboration with program leadership to ensure continual enhancement of the educational experience.

Essential Functions: 

Program objectives: 

  • Remains knowledgeable about program goals and objectives. 
  • Understands both lab and didactic objectives and evaluation systems. 

Preparation and execution of lab, clinical and didactic applications: 

  • Prepares and executes lab, clinical and didactic applications effectively. 
  • Supervises and instructs students during lab, clinical and didactic sessions. 
  • Ensures proper skill instruction and evaluates students' progress in all settings. 
  • Monitors student attendance across all applications.

Reporting and documentation: 

  • Generates oral or written reports for all students. 
  • Maintains accurate records of students' performance and activities during skill sessions. 

Supervision and mentorship: 

  • Ensures proper supervision of students during skill practice sessions. 
  • Serves as a positive role model for students. 
  • Brings any issues or concerns to the immediate supervisor's attention. 

Evaluation and compliance: 

  • Acts as an objective evaluator during skill examinations and evaluations. 
  • Collaborates with the program director to periodically review and revise course materials. 
  • Ensures student compliance with program policies and guidelines. 

Professional development: 

  • Pursues continuous professional development to stay current with the professional discipline and educational methodologies. 
  • Collaborates with the program director to integrate updated knowledge into the curriculum. 

Overall collaboration and communication: 

  • Collaborates effectively with the program director on various aspects, including course material review and student compliance. 
  • Maintains open communication channels and promptly addresses any challenges or problems that arise.


Clinical Experience Requirements 

  •  Minimum of 2 years of fulltime experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is highly desirable 

Education & Licenses/Registries/Certification Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

Certifications:

  • Current registration/certification from a nationally recognized sonography credentialing agency and possess certification in any specialty areas in which they are instructing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required
