Sorter - 1st Shift
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Pay Rate: $14.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Orientation:Mandatory - Tuesday, the 19th at 9:00 AM (No late arrivals; no alternative start dates)
Job SummaryThe Sorter is responsible for properly identifying, sorting, and processing recyclable materials on the conveyor line. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and consistent adherence to safety and dress code requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect materials on the conveyor line and sort items by type, size, condition, color, or paper grade.
  • Remove contaminants from recyclable materials or from the floor.
  • Stack boxes, skids, and organize materials as needed.
  • Dump boxes and totes of materials into designated areas.
  • Feed materials such as wastepaper onto the conveyor.
  • Clean the conveyor, sorting line, and surrounding work areas.
  • Monitor machine start-up screens and ensure equipment is running properly at a safe, moderate speed.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Attend required weekly/monthly safety and operations meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
  • Outdoor worksite with exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
  • Frequent physical activity including walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to occupational risks (cuts, chemicals, etc.).
  • Requires motor coordination and dexterity for machine operation and sorting tasks.
Dress Code (Mandatory)
  • Long-sleeve shirt (no holes, rips, or loose clothing).
  • Work pants/jeans (no holes, rips, or loose clothing).
  • 6-inch steel-toed, lace-up boots (supplied by contractor).
  • PPE provided onsite.
