Description

The Global Commodity Leader - Electronics (LED/PCB/PCBA) is responsible for driving the global sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and cost competitiveness for key electronic components and assemblies across Current Lighting's product portfolio. This role will lead LED, PCB, and PCBA commodity strategy development, optimize EMS/PCBA and SMT manufacturing partnerships, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to deliver best-in-class quality, cost, and continuity of supply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive LED, PCB, and PCBA commodity strategies, including long-term supplier roadmaps and technology plans aligned with product and platform roadmaps.
  • Own EMS/PCBA commodity management, including SMT process capabilities, factory qualification, and electronics manufacturing sourcing decisions.
  • Perform supplier qualification and cost driver analysis to ensure competitive total cost of ownership, quality, and capacity across the global supply base.
  • Lead and facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with critical vendors, driving performance improvements, corrective actions, and strategic alignment.
  • Conduct electronics cost modeling to support sourcing decisions, new product introductions, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Apply should-cost principles and partner with Engineering and Finance to validate quotations, identify cost outliers, and build negotiation strategies.
  • Support NPI and supplier transfers, ensuring readiness of the supply base for ramp, continuity of supply, and adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), alternate sourcing, and productivity projects across LED, PCB, and PCBA commodities.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including single-source exposure, geopolitical risk, capacity constraints, and component obsolescence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, and Product Management to align commodity strategy with business priorities.
  • Monitor market trends, technology shifts, and cost structures in the electronics and EMS/PCBA space to inform strategy and support long-term competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain within electronics, lighting, industrial, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing EMS/PCBA suppliers, SMT processes, and electronics manufacturing sourcing decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in cost modeling, cost driver analysis, and total cost of ownership decision-making.
  • Limited but practical hands-on experience with LED, PCB, and PCBA should-cost modeling and detailed electronics cost breakdowns, with a strong willingness and ability to deepen expertise in this area.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive complex projects in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Strengths

  • Supplier management and strategic partnership development
  • NPI support and supplier transfers
  • Cost reduction initiatives and productivity programs
  • Supply chain risk mitigation and continuity planning
  • Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder alignment
  • Project and program management across multiple sites and functions
