Position SummaryWe're hiring an experienced, driven Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen team as we open Deepwell — the newest full-service restaurant from the Kindred Hospitality group. This role is suited to a culinary leader who takes pride in consistency, mentorship, and bringing a seasonally-driven menu to life night after night.
About UsDeepwell is an upscale casual restaurant and part of a growing local restaurant group, with several other restaurants in the area owned by Joe & Katy Kindred. Our culinary team has earned five James Beard Foundation nominations for Best Chef: Southeast along with other national and local accolades. We want to continue to grow and push the boundaries of food and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and quality across all stations
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and prep cooks
- Oversee food preparation, plating, and presentation to meet the restaurant's standards
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to control food costs and minimize waste
- Create and update prep lists, recipes, and station setups for seasonal menu changes
- Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
- Step in on the line during high-volume service to maintain pace and quality
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, and kitchen staffing
- Communicate with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless, well-paced service
Qualifications- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader preferred; upscale or fine dining experience strongly preferred
- Strong culinary skills across multiple stations, with a seasonally-driven approach to cooking
- Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a kitchen team
- Working knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and vendor ordering
- ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
Compensation & Benefits- Pay: Competitive, based on experience. Starting at $55,000 per year.
