Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a high-volume kitchen
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a culinary setting
  • Strong culinary skills with the ability to manage multiple stations during busy periods
  • Deep understanding of food safety standards and HACCP principles
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience training and developing kitchen staff
  • Familiarity with inventory management and cost-control practices

Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient and smooth service
  • Supervise and execute food preparation across multiple stations
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and portioning
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen team members
  • Lead kitchen during service and communicate effectively with front-of-house staff
