Position Information

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

This position will be a highly skilled food preparation worker who will assist the chef in the preparation of a wide variety of meats, fish, starches, casseroles, breads, vegetables and desserts. A person in this position will work with very limited supervision and may lead other employees to complete assigned tasks. Knowledge and skills in food quality, food safety and food preparation. Work is performed under the immediate direction of the Executive Chef. This incumbent may also be responsible for administrative and supervisory work in food service management at the Rock Eagle Dining Hall in a Manager On Duty capacity. This position will work primarily evenings as the PM Sous Chef. There will be occasions when days are required as well as weekends and holidays.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Good knowledge of food preparation and food safety.
  • Able to prepare and present food for special events and groups.
  • Skilled in operating a variety of kitchen equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Lift 50 pounds or more
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Work in hot temperatures
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Prepares a wide variety of meats, fish, vegetables, salads, breads and desserts for meals served at the cafeteria, Founders Lodge, GA EMC & Senior Pavilion and Banquet Room Service.

Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities

Consults with and assists chef in determining best methods of preparation for items, as well as assists in reduction of leftovers and planning of how to best utilize them.

Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities

Operates cooking equipment safely and correctly such as mixers, slicers, ovens, steamers and kettles. Monitors food safety. Helps facilitate and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, refrigerators and inspecting cleanliness of other employees.

Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities

Assists with and participates in the setting up and serving of special catering events in all areas of the facility.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Help facilitate training of new employees.
