Steak Co. in Walla Walla, Washington is seeking a Sous Chef to lead our culinary team. As part of F&V Hospitality, we are committed to honoring steakhouse traditions while delivering warm, approachable hospitality to visitors and local residents.

As Sous Chef, you will lead a talented kitchen team, drive culinary excellence, oversee all kitchen operations, and play a key role in our private dining and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the culinary team to deliver consistently excellent food quality and presentation
  • Develop menus that honor steakhouse traditions while incorporating contemporary culinary trends
  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, plating, inventory management, and food safety compliance
  • Manage private dining and special events, ensuring seamless and memorable guest experiences
  • Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to create cohesive service across all periods
  • Build and mentor a high-performing culinary team through effective training and coaching
  • Drive financial performance through strategic budgeting, cost control, and waste reduction
  • Analyze labor costs, food costs, and financial reports to optimize profitability
  • Stay current with culinary trends, seasonal ingredients, and industry innovations
  • Partner with management on sales and marketing initiatives to drive business growth
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in upscale dining, preferably in a steakhouse or fine dining environment
  • Demonstrated experience with private dining and special events execution
  • Strong financial acumen including budget management, P&L analysis, and cost controls
  • Creative culinary skills with a track record of successful menu development and execution
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with experience training and developing culinary talent
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to hospitality excellence and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Food handler's certification and knowledge of health and safety regulations required

 

Compensation

$28.00 to $32.00 per hour, based on experience
