South Side Thrive Parsons Avenue - Community Outreach Specialist

 

This position conducts outreach on and along Parsons Avenue to engage and provide resource navigation to support people experiencing poverty and homelessness; engages with local nonprofits and businesses, and conducts regular litter pick-up on the corridor.  Must be able to work flexible work schedule.

 

 

Coordinates outreach efforts, engages with community stakeholders, develops partnerships, and implements strategies to increase visibility and impact. Develops and implements collaborative programs and services by working with community–based organizations and hospital staff.

 

 

Essential Functions:

• Develops outreach strategies to engage with target audiences.
• Collaborates with team members to create outreach materials.
• Conducts outreach activities to promote programs or services.
• Supports target population in connecting to available programs or services.
• Analyzes outreach data to measure effectiveness of campaigns.
• Builds relationships with community partners to expand outreach efforts.
• Represents the organization at events to increase visibility and awareness.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in a health or social services related field, or equivalent experience, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Skills:

• Proficiency with written summaries and documentation.
• Working knowledge of child health care and community issues.
• Proficiency personal computers, databases, and word processing software.
• Effective customer service, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills for interaction with contacts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Experience:

• Two years of experience in a community-based setting in areas such as health care, social service, or community service, required.
• Experience in collaborative program development, preferred.
