Duties Help Serves as the primary point of authority and owner for the planning, execution, and success of the Space Force SF T-10 Miler event, ensuring it meets all strategic financial and operational goals. Reports to the AFM Programs Director on plans development and management of the SF T-10 Miler and related events, to include but not limited to top-level operations plans for implementation of all related event execution elements including Emergency Management, Anti-Terrorism, LLC, Civil Engineering, Department of Transportation, and EMS.

Exercises daily task-oriented direction and provides event-specific priorities to personnel from functional teams for all aspects related to the SF T-10 Miler. Develops activities to meet the needs of participants while remaining within established guidelines, parameters, and objectives of funding, facilities, equipment, and support staff. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of on-going SF running activities to ascertain where and how the program can be strengthened and improved. Adheres to monthly, quarterly, and annual budget requirements, monitors variances, and makes revisions as necessary.

Collaborates with Functional Directors to plan and secure necessary personnel and resources for event execution. Ensures all donations and support received from sponsorship and applicants are handled in accordance with applicable guidelines. Leads the coordination efforts and planning associated with all race course activities. Directs the Volunteer Program to plan, recruit, and train all race course volunteers. Ensures proper volunteer training is conducted. Develops and directs coordination of logistical requirements for race course set-up and tear down.

Coordinates transportation requirements, security assistance, and other support operations to include telephone and radio communications, AudioVisual, Medical Services, Engineering, Public Affairs, Protocol, Safety, and Legal support is complete and all necessary functional requirements are prepared and in place for events/activities. Coordinates and arranges with state and local law enforcement and transportation agencies to ensure all applicable government regulations are followed in obtaining and securing necessary permits from each jurisdiction for highway and local road closures; reports results to AFM Programs Director.

Responsible for planning and executing all facets of logistics associated with the physical courses, to include course design, coordination, scheduling, and executing the route according to the official USATF certification. Responsible for maintaining a month-to-month event timeline/critical calendar. Works with functional directors, AFM Programs Director, and subject matter experts to create, edit, and re-design course routes as necessary. Primary contact for the Start/Finish line and Festival Area from the initial design to teardown.

Responsible for inventory in warehouse and ordering of all event-related materials and placement of ordered materials. Works and supports the Events Manager to ensure Expo, Pasta Dinner, and Post-Race Party are smoothly executed. Identifies, evaluates, and makes recommendations for required support available. Writes statements or requests of desired proposals. Organizes and leads special logistics team with members from various installation organizations, local law enforcement agencies, local Dept of Transportation, as well as city and county governments.

Serves as the primary liaison to Patrick SFB and Cape Canaveral SFS leadership and key installation partners. Coordinates with AFM Programs Director on contracts by advising, monitoring, and tracking for the best quality and pricing of supplies, equipment, and service contracts in support of the SF T-10 Miler, ensuring efforts are accomplished in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Serves as a marathon publicity/public relations spokesperson. Plans, develops, and ensures implementation of the SF T-10 Miler marketing plan.

Plans work to be accomplished, sets personal priorities on both work and administrative matters. Travel to attend local and state marathons and expos, meetings, conferences, and seminars that pertain to running a marathon. Irregular work hours may be required to represent the Marathon during SF T-10 Miler, AF Marathon, and other related events. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Qualifying Experience Progressively responsible experience required in events and project management, preferably in the sports and/or entertainment industries, including strong logistical/operational background that provides the knowledge and expertise needed to operate this position at this level. Experience that equips the incumbent with knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful performance of the duties of this position, such as in the areas of advertising, budgeting, management, timekeeping, labor, staffing; an applicable bachelors degree may be substitute for this experience.

Preferred knowledge of USA Track and Field long distance running rules and regulations. Ability to lead, direct personnel, and make resourceful financial decisions. Preferred knowledge of military protocol and procedures, purchasing, and financial accounting methods. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualification above.

Proficient in word processing software. Strong attention to details with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while working under tight deadlines. Must possess the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while acting in the best interest of the USAF and Space Force. Incumbent must be able to work other than normal duty hours, which may include long hours and travel on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Must obtain a Government Motor Vehicle license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a secret clearance. Employee is required to complete OGE Form 450 Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports annually.

Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
