    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REPORTS TO: Principal

    Job Goal: To provide patient, compassionate, and high-quality instructional, physical, and behavioral support to K-12 students with special needs, working closely under the direction of certified special education teachers to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to learn.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

    • Clearances: Ability to successfully pass a background check, child abuse registry clearance, and fingerprinting process.

    • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, transfer, and position students (up to 50 lbs unassisted, or heavier with assistance/equipment), stand for extended periods, and bend, kneel, or squat to interact at eye level with students.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    High-Quality Student & Instructional Support

    • Deliver high-quality, targeted support to individual students or small groups under the direct guidance and direction of the certified special education teacher.

    • Assist in reinforcing concepts, adapting activities, and applying accommodations outlined in students'' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

    Classroom Collaboration & Directives

    • Follow all instructional, behavioral, and routines directed by certified teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and school leadership.

    • Assist the teacher in learning milestones.

    • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.

    Care, Safety, & Physical Assistance

    • Assist students with physical transitions throughout the school environment.

    • Safely lift, move, or re-position students

    • Assist with personal care and daily living needs with dignity, respect, and utmost care for the student.

    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records in compliance with FERPA guidelines.
