Job Description

Job Goal:

To support student learning and growth, under the direction of the teachers, in the implementation of learning goals, behavior goals, and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
  • Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
  • Track IEP goal progress and track staff support minutes, while implementing behavior intervention plans.
  • Assisting students in reaching their academic, social, and career goals.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with students, staff, and administration.
  • Provides support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
  • Develop trusting relationships with students to create a positive school experience.
  • Participate in required district and department training.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The employee has frequent contact with students and members of the community. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversations and is required to utilize communication skills, such as speaking and listening. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk at regular intervals throughout the workday. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Essential functions require a high level of concentration and attention to detail.
