Emergency Response, Health Physics, Lift/Move 50 Pounds, Medication Administration, Special Education, Training/Teaching
- Delivers educational interventions designed by Special Education teachers to help the student meet educational, academic, life skill, behavioral, physical, social and emotional goals.
- Assists teachers with Special Education student to enable learning with minimal disruptions to other students.
- Assists students with basic dress and grooming self-care.
- Administers medications, if needed, as trained, assigned, and directed.
- Attends to physical needs of student.
- Attends to health care physical needs of student(s), which may include feeding, toileting, diapering, responding to medical emergencies, and handling equipment.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The selected candidates must have, or must be able to obtain prior to their first day, a Special Education Program Aide license. The incumbents must be highly qualified; therefore, the selected candidates must have completed a 2 year degree, 48 hours of coursework or be able to pass the Paraeducator Highly Qualified Assessment.
