Byron Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and student-focused educator to serve as a Special Education Evaluation Teacher. This position plays a critical role in supporting students by coordinating and conducting comprehensive special education evaluations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that students receive appropriate educational programming based on individualized assessment data.
The successful candidate will work closely with special education staff, school psychologists, administrators, families, and other service providers to support student success through timely, accurate, and data-informed evaluations.
JOB GOAL
Focus on individualized student assessments associated with Special Education services. This position provides data-driven educational programming recommendations, knowledge of special educational eligibility criteria, administering a variety of assessment and collection data and information as it pertains to students in support of the Special Education programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with special education case managers, IEP teams and school psychologist(s) to plan and complete special education evaluations
- Facilitates effective verbal and written communication between parents, principals, and IEP teams
- Participates in regularly scheduled assessment team meetings with school psychologist, Special Education Supervisor and service providers to plan and develop comprehensive evaluations (including functional behavior assessments and transition assessments)
- Demonstrates efficient, accurate and organized completion of evaluation paperwork as required through due process
- Effectively and clearly reports evaluation findings to teams
- Is proficient in special education criteria requirements
- Coordinates special education evaluations with members of the child study team
- Facilitates evaluation portion of team meetings
- Manages the system of evaluation due dates as they align with IEP due dates
- Monitors and manages protocols for instruments used within the evaluation team
- Facilitates building Student Support Team meetings
- Supports the work of the Special Education Coordinator
- Attends ongoing training as it pertains to special education evaluations, standardized testing and disability content areas
- Maintains accurate and complete records as directed.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy
- Is responsible to be knowledgeable about all district policy and the master agreement.
- Employee is responsible to be knowledgeable about all district policies.

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary: Placement on the Byron Education Association Master Agreement salary schedule, commensurate with education and experience
- Contract Length: Per teacher contract (school year)
