WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the supervision of the special education teacher, works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
Establishes and maintains a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense, emotional involvement.
Reads to, listens to, supervises, and participates with the student(s) during the school day.
Provides safety and security for all students in and out of the classroom.
Reinforces Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals for each student under the direction of the teacher.
Mentors appropriate behavior and social skills with peers, classmates, and administrators through example, job training, and social stories.
Regulates and disciplines inappropriate behavior and refusals to comply with directions/requests.
Provides support for students' daily living functions such as toileting, feeding/eating, dressing, mobility, etc.
Constantly surveys the classroom to monitor students' behaviors, moving to assist those who need help.
Transports students to and from therapy sites and communicates any behaviors the student is experiencing that may reflect on therapy session.
Supports students getting to and from the health office for medications.
Reviews students' schedules each day to determine their events for that day.
Assists in keeping students on task with academics either in groups and/or one-on-one.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
$17.50 per hour
