TITLE: Licensed Special Education Associate
REPORTS TO: Supervising Teacher/Director of Pupil Services/Special Education.
JOB GOAL: To assist the Special Education teacher in providing appropriate services, instruction, and supervision to Special Education students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Treat all students, staff, parents, and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion, and patience.
Assist teacher in:
A. Maintaining classroom organization.
B. Providing support in an inclusion setting.
C. Reinforcing previously taught concepts as prescribed by the teacher in an individual
or small group setting.
D. Preparing teaching materials, performing clerical responsibilities and making bulletin boards under teacher direction.
Perform and maintain behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher (including corrective action with physically aggressive students).
Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of information about students.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
Participate in community outings as directed by the teacher.
Assist with personal care/self-help skills:
A. Feeding
B. Diapering and toileting
C. Hygiene - washing, nose wiping, etc.
D. Dressing
Transfer, lift, and position students into standers, walkers, wheelchairs, etc., as trained/directed by the therapists and/or teacher.
Assist with Augmentative Communication/Assistive Technology (including assisting students with computer programs).
Work with, direct, and provide input back to the teacher when working with student teachers, volunteers, field experience students, and substitute teachers.
Assist specialists; art, music, phy-ed, media, speech, occupational, and physical therapists.
Supervise and assist with bus loading and unloading and possible transfer of students.
Administer medications in accordance with school district policy.
Supervise students during lunch periods.
