Behavior Consultant Position for the 2026-2027 school year

Terms of Employment:

Contract is 185 days. Contract renewed on annual basis dependent on satisfactory evaluation.

Evaluation: There will be a yearly evaluation.

Reports to: District Special Education Supervisor

Major Functions:

Provides support to the staff and parents, FBA development, classroom observations, collaborative problem-solving, lead training in-services,counseling and participation in case conferences, provide teacher training, other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in education, social work or counseling/psychology, or relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of effective assessment of behaviors, and behavior interventions.
  • Work experience with a school or mental health agency.
  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve, team building.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all duties of the behavior consultant functions as required by SLPCSPC including:
  • Assist in informal evaluation of problematic behavior.
  • Develop Functional Behavior Analysis (FBAs)
  • Meet with the staff to determine effective methods to deal with problematic behavior and assist teachers as they develop and follow through with behavior plans.
  • Evaluate the current behavioral systems approaches in classrooms and their effectiveness in working with individual students.
  • Assist the staff in refining the behavioral management systems to effectively meet the needs of individual students.
  • Provide information to staff through in-services to assist in their understanding of problematic behavior.
  • Provide training to staff in order to give them the skills needed to carry out behavioral systems.
  • Provide training to parents to become positive, supportive advocates for their child.
  • Provide counseling to individual parents or students as appropriate.
  • Provide assistance in establishing positive interaction between the school and home.
  • Participate in case conferences as needed to develop individual education plans.
  • Participate in multi-agency collaboration meetings for students.
  • Submit billing to Medicaid for services provided (depending on license/credentials).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additionally, the individual must complete a federal I-9 form (providing appropriate identification documents); tax forms; a direct-deposit form (with an attached voided check); and, view training videos at the Educational Services Center (approximately one hour in length).
