Location: Central Intermediate

Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Exceptional Learners

Employment Type: Full-Time, Certified Staff

Job Summary:

The Special Education Behavior Education Teacher of Record (TOR) plays a pivotal role in supporting students with behavioral and emotional needs who qualify for special education services. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, supervising and coordinating services in a self-contained classroom setting, and providing direct instruction and behavioral support in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Responsibilities

Develop and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to students with emotional/behavioral disorders (EBD) and other disabilities.

Deliver instruction aligned with students' IEPs in academic, social, and behavioral domains.

Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs.

Support students in general education settings when appropriate (push-in/pull-out model).

Behavioral Support

Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) using evidence-based practices.

Collaborate with school teams to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).

Use data-driven decision-making to adjust behavioral strategies.

Teach and reinforce positive behavior and social skills.

IEP and Case Management

Serve as the Teacher of Record for students receiving special education services.

Lead IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with IDEA.

Collaborate with parents, paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and administrators.

Maintain timely and accurate student records, including progress reports and behavior data.

Collaboration & Professionalism

Serve as a liaison between general and special education staff.

Provide consultation and support to colleagues regarding behavior strategies.

Participate in professional development related to special education, behavior, and inclusion.

Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Special Education

Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement.

Knowledge of IDEA, FAPE, and other applicable federal/state regulations.

Preferred:

Experience working with students with emotional disabilities/behavioral challenge exceptionalities.

CPI, PBIS, MANDT or other behavior management training.

Master's degree in Special Education or Behavior Intervention preferred.

Working Conditions:
