BASIC FUNCTION DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of a Special Education Teacher, the successful candidate will assist in the academic program of 6th-12th grade Special Education Students. Special Education Certificated Teacher Resource CTRs employees are a key part of our special education team. CTRs will support their Supervising Special Education Teachers by working 40 hours per week. They are role models for our students and are expected to look, act, and speak as representatives of the school at all times.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Provide one-on-one tutoring to support the goal and progress of students. • Assist in personalizing assignments to meet the individual goals of students. • Conduct informal assessments of IEP student progress. • Use knowledge of an individuals strengths and interests to encourage engagement in varied school and community activities as determined by the instructional team. • Support teachers with resource center management related to a safe environment and supportive school culture. • Provide the least intrusive level of support based on the demands of the learning environment as determined by the instructional team. • Use strategies as determined by the instructional team in a variety of settings to assist in the development of social skills. • Use strategies that promote successful transitions for individuals with IEPs as determined by the instructional team. • Use a variety of positive behavioral supports to enhance an individuals active participation in activities as determined by the instructional team. • Communicate with SPED Teachers on student progress. • Keep a detailed log of minutes, topics, and interactions with students. • Sign and abide by all testing affidavits. • Assist in the scheduling of IEP meetings. • Communicate to students and parents about appointment reminders, testing dates, times, and participation. • Assist teacher with assessment preparation and supervision. • Attend required trainings, meetings, or professional development opportunities throughout the school year. • Assist in conducting student home visits. • Help support the students while the teacher is in a meeting or attending a training. • Partner with teachers to make connections within the community. • Maintain a clean, organized learning environment for students. • Responsible for developing, implementing, and participating in regular and ongoing marketing and community outreach activities and events to ensure students and parents are aware of the school as a free public option. • Responsible for developing, implementing, and participating in regular and ongoing student retention activities and strategies to ensure no student drops out and current and previous students are aware of the school as a free public option. • Perform other duties as assigned or changed with or without notice. • Maintain consistent and regular attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. • California 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. • Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction. • Years of experience working directly with middle and/or secondary students. • Preferably have experience working with specialized student populations, such as English Learners, Homeless Foster Youth, etc. • Possession of a valid California drivers license and reliable transportation. • TB Clearance. • Obtain Criminal Justice Fingerprint. • Background Clearance through the DOJ and FBI.

• Understand the schools Vision, Mission, and Values. • Demonstrate respect and appreciation for differences in values, languages, and customs among home, school, and community. • Implement concepts associated with disability rights, normalization, and inclusive practices. • Access credible resources to extend and expand understanding of unique learners. • Rights and responsibilities of individuals with exceptionalities and other stakeholders related to special education. • Importance of the paraeducator serving as a positive model for individuals with disabilities. • Possess excellent organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills. • Standard software applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Environment: Indoor office setting, exposure to computer screens. • Physical Requirements: • Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, staff, and parents. • Seeing to read, proofread, perform clerical tasks, and periodic work on a computer screen. • Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. • Kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies. • Lifting light objects. • Driving a vehicle to attend visits at resource centers and staff meetings.
LOCATION
12-Month 228 Workday Contract - 100 onsite, Monday-Friday.

SELECTION PROCESS
Qualified applicants will first complete a brief work-styles/behavioral survey and a math assessment. Candidates who successfully complete this initial phase will be invited to a panel interview with School Administrators. Candidates recommended from the first interview will advance to a final interview with the Deputy Superintendent of School Services and Founding Director and the Superintendent of School Services and Founder.
