Special Education CoordinatorTitle: Special Education CoordinatorLocation: PhiladelphiaJob Responsibilities Meet with the Special Education Department at least twice per month, and maintain all meeting notes, sign-in sheets and agendas for district, state and federal reportingEnsure timely submission of all financial documents and reports pertaining to the Special Education Department (i.e. Penn Data, ACCESS, WIDA, Federal SPED Monitoring etc.), and any legal cases related to select students with disabilitiesEnsure that data and the number of students identified are accurately logged across multiple systems/databases including Penn Data, SIS, Powerschool, and IEP WriterOversee the following services: Homebound instruction, Psychology, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, English Language Learners Manage service logs for related service providersParticipate in interview processes for Special Education teachers and related services. Ensure that all special education students have a schedule of services that matches their IEP goals and service hoursImplement and monitor accountability and compliance measures to ensure all intensive interventions, specialized instruction services, and related services, are implemented with fidelity.Secure 4010/4011 placementsCollaborate with APS institutions to ensure programming is taking place and visit the school every trimester. Coordinate and oversee ESYSchedule, oversee, and participate in IEP, ER, RR and 504 meetings by ensuring timely scheduling and coordination with parents/guardians and that all materials are ready for families and faculty at least 5 days prior to the meeting.Communicate and manage expectations for specific meeting roles and paperwork requirements with faculty and staff in a professional and timely manner to prepare for meetingsObserve case managers and special education teachers to provide instructional feedback and ensure that IEPs are properly implemented.Review case managers and special education teachers' evaluation reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance. Conduct informal evaluation of teachers within the department. Keep anecdotal notes and provide targeted feedback as necessaryDevelop/write FBAs and IEPs for students Ensure that each student has an IEP At-a-glance to share with the communityCollaborate with Academy Leaders and administration to prepare for all external audits and reviews related to academic and student services (i.e., Compliance Review and SPED Audit), support the PDE performance process, manage all IDEA, ESSA and PDE requirements; and generally, support successful compliance and operations.Assume other duties and responsibilities, administrative and otherwise, as assigned by supervisorJob Requirements Valid PA Special Education certification5 + years of experience teaching special education2 + years of experience as a Special Education CoordinatorExperience writing and monitoring IEPs and be familiar with IDEA regulationsStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsMust be able to obtain or currently have all background clearances (Federal, PA State, & Child Abuse).In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to: lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.
