Special Education Driver

Position Summary

The Special Education Driver provides safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for students with special needs. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and route assignments based on student transportation needs. Drivers are responsible for ensuring student safety, maintaining positive interactions with students, families, and staff, and adhering to all transportation policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely transport special education students to and from school, programs, and approved activities.

• Complete required transportation records, mileage logs, and incident reports.

• Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel.

• Follow established routes and schedules while adapting to changing transportation needs.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

• Comply with all state, federal, and district transportation regulations.

Schedule

• Daily split shifts will begin no earlier than 7:30 a.m. and end no later than approximately 4:30 p.m.

• Flexible, variable route assignments based on student transportation needs.

• Employees may work as few as 3 hours per day or up to 40 hours per week.

• Schedule may vary by day and may include split shifts or adjusted hours to accommodate route demands. Once established, routes and hours are generally consistent.

• Additional hours may be available based on student enrollment and transportation requirements.
