Qualifications:
- Hold valid New York State certification in designated area of leadership position
- Effective communication and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of curriculum and the instructional best practices

- Able to work effectively with a variety of staff and groups
Responsibilities: Shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyzes grade-band and building-level student assessment data; assists teachers with the interpretation of test results, item analysis, and data-driven instructional planning.
- Assists in the development of curriculum and researches, identifies, and supports the implementation of research-based interventions.
- Supports building and district-level work related to the implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
- Participates in and helps facilitate approved pilot programs relevant to the department or grade band.
- Plans for, facilitates, and presents pertinent information at monthly meetings with building-level/grade-band Special Education teachers; records and distributes meeting minutes to the appropriate Director of Special Education.
- Facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and serves as an active member of the Building Leadership Team (BLT).
- Meets monthly with the assigned Director of Special Education (Elementary or Secondary), Building Principals, and/or Central Office Administration to align building needs with district goals.
- Provides input into district staff development programs and assists with conference day planning.
- Conducts workshops, instructional demonstrations, or in-service training for teachers based on building and department needs.
- Serves as an instructional resource and consultant to the Special Education teachers within their respective building or assigned grade band.
- Attends professional development and training sessions as deemed appropriate by the administration to stay current on special education compliance and best practices.
- Gathers information regarding building-level Special Education department needs and organizes specialized resources and instructional materials.
- Serves on district-level committees, program review committees, and interview committees aligned to the teacher leader assignment.
- Participates in data collection, student tracking, and planning for the Extended School Year program.
- Participates in the planning and coordination of department-specific special events, including the Special Olympics.
- Strictly maintains the confidentiality of all staff, student, and family information in alignment with FERPA, IDEA, and district policy.
- Provides collaborative leadership in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating building and district special education initiatives.
- Fulfill general teacher leader responsibilities, as assigned
Salary: As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association
Terms of Employment:
The position of Special Education Teacher Leader is a ten month position.
The terms established in accordance with the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association.
Evaluation:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by district administration.
