Job Description
Job Summary:
The In-Home Tutor provides direct instruction in the subject(s) for which he or she is certified to teach. Minimum Qualifications:
- Current NYS Special Education Teacher Certification, with Strong Literacy background
- Broad background of professional training and experience to adapt instruction to each students needs
- Ability to adjust to a variety of home situations and be knowledgeable of cultural uniqueness
Primary Activities:
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
- Maintains close contact with the students teachers, counselor, or the program coordinator to receive and implement appropriate educational programs
- Use assignments and materials provided by the classroom teacher
- Maintain accurate record of hours of instruction provided for each assigned student and file such information with the designated school representative
- Submit the students completed work to the designated school representative prior to the end of the grading period and maintain written documentation of work completed with the homebound records, or in cases where online instruction is used, provide a written record
- Document any instructional time that is interrupted because of the child not being available for the instruction period
- Teach lesson plan as outlined by the classroom teacher
- Meets and instructs homebound students in the locations and at the times designated
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Creates an instructional environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Maintains a professional appearance as an example for students
- Demonstrates knowledge and incorporates technology into lessons, as required.
