QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree or the equivalent or passing scores on the Complete Work Keys Test.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
  • Effective human relation skills.
  • Professionalism, dedication, and flexibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform assigned duties as designated by the teacher, principal, and special education coordinator.
  • Work with individuals and/or small groups to reinforce academic and behavioral skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Perform clerical and record-keeping duties as assigned by the principal and teacher.
  • Handle discipline as directed by the principal and teacher.
  • Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials.
  • Report to the teacher any concerns, problems, or relative information about students.
  • Keep all information concerning school business, students, and personnel confidential.
  • Observe students during activities, field trips, and/or community-based work experience, classroom activities, at home, and other school and community environments.
  • Act as a support system to protect instructional time in the classroom.
  • Take the initiative to carry out duties and responsibilities as they arise in an effort to assist the classroom teacher.
  • Must be able to read and follow all academic and behavioral plans.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 9 Months (187 Days, 7.5 hours/day)
