Description

We have an opening for a Special Education Aide position available at Deerfield Elementary School.

Hours:

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1/2 hours unpaid lunch)

Summary:

The Special Education Aide provides support to students with special needs to help them access and participate fully in the school environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic, behavioral, and/or physical support to the students throughout the school day.

  • Assist the students in following classroom routines and completing assignments under the direction of the classroom teacher or special education staff.

  • Support the students in developing independence, communication, and social skills.

  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans as directed by certified staff.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and staff.

  • Monitor and record student progress and share observations with the supervising teacher.

  • Assists students with toileting needs (an additional $1.50 per hour will be provided for performing this duty).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or higher preferred).

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities, preferred.

  • Ability to follow teacher direction and work as part of a collaborative educational team.

  • Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.

This is a 5.5 hour a day position with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch.

Please note: This is a part-time position and it does not include Health or Dental benefits.
