Cedar Hill Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education teacher for a full-time leave replacement position from October 2, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students with diverse learning needs, providing individualized instruction and support to promote academic and social-emotional growth. This role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that empowers all students to succeed.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning and development.
Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Provide direct instruction in both one-on-one and small group settings, utilizing evidence-based practices to support student learning.
Create and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and caregivers regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate goals and objectives for students.
Stay current with best practices in special education and implement new strategies as appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and attendance in compliance with school and district policies.
Foster a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusivity among all students.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Valid state certification in Special Education.
Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities.
Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual learners.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
A passion for working with children and a dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
