    Summary

    Liberty Corner Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education teacher for a temporary leave replacement position from September 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. This role requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure that all students receive the necessary resources and accommodations to thrive academically and socially.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
    • Provide direct instruction and support to students with varying disabilities in both inclusive and self-contained settings.
    • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each learner.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and provide appropriate accommodations for students with special needs.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP goals, and communication with parents and guardians.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs and other student-focused discussions.
    • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and social-emotional development.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
    • Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
    • Ensure compliance with all school and district policies, as well as state and federal laws regarding special education.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Valid state certification in Special Education.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
    • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
    • Ability to create and implement engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced educational setting.
    • CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
