Special Education Life Skills Instructional Assistant/Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
The position of a Special Education Life Skills Instructional Assistant/Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) will be available immediately at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Must have one of the following:
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
Must perform duties with a minimum supervision
Ability to communicate, verbally & in written communication
Experience:
Some experience working with children
EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); regular exposure to noise. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; assist non-ambulatory students and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment. Exposure to biological hazards.
